  • Website launch

By Andrew Bennett | Mon 7th Mar 2011

3 months in the making and we’ve finally launched our new website. I wanted to give a mention to Reflex Studios who developed the site for us. The whole process was particularly painless and we’re delighted with the finished product. The site is really user friendly and easy to navigate, both for visitors and updates on our end. Over the years we evolved as a company but the website didn’t evolve to reflect this. With our new

  • Update from CeBIT

By Andrew Bennett | Wed 2nd Mar 2011

Had a big day at CeBIT today. Cloud Computing seems to be the big thing this year, as well as the PC manufacturers showing off their new Intel i7 and USB3 models. There will be some goodies in a PC store near you this year. We talked to a lot of ruggedised PC manufacturers and distributors today. Rugged laptops and tablets are thin on the ground this year compared to last time I was here. Wierdest moment was seeing the Egyption trade pa

  • Movember

By Andrew Bennett | Tue 1st Mar 2011

Big congratulations go out to the “hairy” boys at Mallon Technology, who swapped their peachy-skinned cheeks for a more hirsute look for the Movember battle against male cancers campaign. Amid raucous ridicule from colleagues and family, the boys took on the challenge and raised a whopping €1,543 for the worthy cause! The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember. Movember challenges men to change

  • CeBIT here we come

By Andrew Bennett | Thu 24th Feb 2011

I just got everything booked to go to CeBIT next week. Unfortunately I left the accommodation booking a little late, but I managed to secure a small garden shed no more than 50km from Hannover. A brisk walk never hurt anyone. But seriously, I am looking forward to this. Anthony and I have got 2 days of navigating the biggest computer industry trade show in Europe. If you’ve never been, the first time you go to CeBIT, the sheer scale of

  • TestComplete Tip #1

By Andrew Bennett | Wed 23rd Feb 2011

I’ve been getting an error testing one of our applications written in Delphi 5 using SmartBear/AutomtedQA TestComplete. When working with an existing keyword test, I remapped a TDbGrid control and when I went to save it, I kept getting this error: Could not convert variant of type (Null) into type (Integer) Very frustrating, as I the script would not save because of the error, so I couldn’t even send an example of the problem to Tec

  • iPhone App Development

By Andrew Bennett | Mon 14th Feb 2011

We’ve been working on our first iPhone app. I can’t say much about it yet, but it’s fair to say that as a Microsoft shop, we’re just dipping our toes in to see what the waters like. We’re not ready to make a big contribution to Steve Jobs retirement fund just yet. Seems you can’t develop for the iPhone without shelling out on an Intel based Mac. Our resident instant Apple expert has been hacking away on a VM installation of OS
