At Mallon, we remain committed to environmental transparency and our long–term goal of achieving Net Zero emissions. As part of this commitment, we are sharing our latest carbon footprint results for 2024, which reflect both the progress and challenges we face on our sustainability journey.
This marks our fourth year of carbon reporting and our most comprehensive data set to date. While we have taken significant steps towards reducing our environmental impact, our 2024 results show an overall increase in emissions compared to the previous year, but a reduction when compared to our baseline year.
Our 2024 Carbon Footprint Results
In 2024, our total carbon footprint was 172,552.61 kgCO₂e.

To provide some context, this is approximately equivalent to:
506 round–trip flights from London to Barcelona
- 38 petrol cars driven for one year, or
- 22 homes powered for a full year
This represents a 3.4% increase from our 2023 footprint of 166,847.59 kgCO₂e, but overall is still a reduction on our baseline year by 0.78%.
Understanding the Increase
While this rise in emissions is disappointing, it highlights the complex nature of managing and reducing carbon impacts across a growing organisation. Several factors contributed to the increase, including:
- A higher number of remote–working employees
- Increased travel and transport needs
- The global rise in the cost of purchased services
Following a review of our data, we have identified that all our increases lie within our Scope 3 emissions – those that arise from activities that the company is indirectly responsible for, such as the delivery of goods or purchased services.
Progress in Key Areas
Despite the overall increase, we have made significant progress in reducing the emissions that we are directly responsible for. Since our baseline year, we have been able to reduce our Scope 2 emissions by 98.7%. As of 2024, our scope 1 and 2 emissions now only account for 1% of our total carbon footprint.

Progress in these areas has been driven by several initiatives:
- Continued energy efficiency improvements (e.g. LED lighting, solar panels, and battery storage)
- Our investment in a company EV
- Our transition to a 100% renewable energy tariff
What’s Next?
Our 2024 results serve as a timely reminder that sustainability is a long–term journey, and progress is rarely linear. We remain fully committed to:
- Annual carbon reporting to ensure transparency and accountability
- Using data insights to refine our reduction strategies
- Engaging our team and stakeholders in building a low–carbon future
We still have work to do, particularly within Scope 3, and will use our 2024 data to identify and target new opportunities for reduction. Our Net Zero goal for 2040 remains unchanged, and we will continue to take responsible action, learn from setbacks, and aim to set a leading example within the geospatial industry.
