Mallon Re-Awarded DOA Contract

Mallon Technology has recently been re-awarded the LPIS Update project for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Ireland.

We currently have a team of 28 working on a split-site operation in Agriculture offices in Dublin and Portlaoise and we are entering our sixteenth year of working with the Department.

Approximately 133,000 farmers submitted Single Payment Scheme applications to the Irish Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in 2009 in respect of approximately 1,000,000 land parcels. It is expected that a similar number will apply in 2010. Farmers may submit their application online or by post.

Mallon Technology is responsible for the update of the Land Parcel Identification System with new parcels and boundary changes declared by farmers on maps, which they will submit with their 2010 Single Payment Scheme applications. This includes the permanent sub-division and merging of existing parcels, which generates new parcel numbers and the redlining of non-eligible features within parcels. The project also includes the digitisation of control inspections cases, an audit of land parcels against current orthophotography and digitisation of Forestry contracts. It is estimated that 50,000 SPS applicants will submit maps identifying new parcels and/or parcels with non-eligible features for scheme year 2010. Mallon Technology provides the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food with a project team that has individual LPIS and other GIS project related experience ranging from 2 years to 15 years. The team is multi-skilled and fully trained in all aspects of the project and the majority hold a third level qualification in GIS or related field. The team have extensive experience in spatial systems, cadastral mapping and orthophotography and have demonstrated a strong ability to follow procedures and processes to high standard of quality.
