Allied Images, suppliers of large format scanning solutions, is pleased to announce that Mallon Technology, Cookstown, Northern Ireland, has been appointed as an accredited reseller in an agreement that covers the Colortrac SmartLF range.

Allied Images are the exclusive UK distributor for Colortrac’s range of scanners including Series 4e, SmartLF and FB24120 flatbed. SmartLF is a high performance colour/monochrome large format scanner with innovative contact image sensor technology that delivers fast yet cost-effective large image format capture.

The scanners are designed to provide the semi-professional and office scanning market with a future-proofed solution via hardware and software enhancement options. Whether it is maps or monochrome line drawings, SmartLF delivers accuracy and quality with maximum workflow at an affordable cost. Steve Morin, Allied Images’ MD said “The launch of SmartLF is likely to have a considerable impact on the market by creating opportunities for customers who previously were prohibited from owning a scanner due to high prices. We believe SmartLF will significantly increase the size of the scanner market in the UK and greatly broaden the customer base.”

Mallon Technology, GIS consultants and software developers, have recently launched Diamond Digital Data Management. Having invested in a full range of scanning equipment for their Cookstown head office, Mallon Technology can scan documents up to A0 size as well as microfiche slides, making it the only operation of its kind in the area. The launch of the enterprise is an ideal way for the company to begin their tenth year in business. Having started out locally as a small family business they now have offices in Dublin and aided by Invest Northern Ireland export their products and services Europe-wide. They are now part of the strong business base that contributes positively towards the local economy.

Within their range of business units, Mallon Technology currently produce the Diamond Software Suite, a range widely used by local councils, as well as providing GIS data capture and conversion services throughout Ireland and Europe. Managing Director, Philip Mallon explained “The move into scanning was a natural progression for the company. We have already been successful in securing data management contracts with several ROI County Councils, but hope to build our client-base in this area to include Northern Ireland businesses. Digital storage is an inevitable step for anyone with large format documents, large volumes of paperwork or even important historical records. Documents are stored on DVD allowing more security, more office space, easy access and preserved quality.

The newly appointed Scanning Manager, David McQuillan commented “This specialised equipment will provide Mid-Ulster businesses with a quick and, cost-effective means of backing up their important paper documents.
