Mallon Technology To Present at INSPIRE Conference 2017

Following its implementation across the EU, EFTA/EEA and candidate accession countries, the INSPIRE Conference 2017 is celebrating the INSPIRE Directive’s 10th anniversary of its entry into force. Joining the celebrations will be Calvin McCoy, our Remote Sensing Analyst, who will be delivering a presentation during the conference.

The Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community, aka INSPIRE, aims to create a European Union spatial data infrastructure for the purposes of EU environmental policies and policies or activities which may have an impact on the environment. A decade since INSPIRE was implemented it has resulted in a growing availability of a wide range of spatial data.

The conference this year is being hosted jointly by France and Germany in the towns of Kehl and Strasbourg, from the 4th – 8th September. This year, the conference aims to contribute to the implementation of INSPIRE Directive by 2020, focusing on incentives for strengthened cross–border and cross–sector cooperation among all stakeholders at national, regional and local levels.

Calvin will be presenting in Strasbourg on Wednesday 6th September, in the Rome room at 2.45pm. His presentation is titled, ‘ Examining the applicability of Sentinel–1 data for identifying fires and burn scars on the Irish landscape: and will be part of a series of presentations examining the technologies and tools for Copernicus.
