Cookstown Team Host Charity Bake Sale & Coffee Morning

Last Friday, our colleagues from Mallon Technology and Azimap in the Cookstown office, hosted a charity bake sale and coffee morning in an effort to raise funds for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.

This was an event which saw the whole office come together across different departments to help produce a huge selection of baked goods and treats for sale. On offer was everything from cupcakes, fudge, tarts, muffins, fifteens, macaroons and swiss rolls to the show stopping selection of different and impressive cakes. As you can see in the gallery below, all the bakers did an amazing job to produce the amount they did.

Once started, the treats did not last long! Everything on offer proved to big a draw for the Mallon Technology and Azimap teams with everything disappearing pretty quickly to leave the whole office stuffed and unable to move for the rest of the day. Despite being a charity bake sale there was a competitive edge to the baking with certificates and prizes on offer for the Star Baker and overall department Best Bake. As soon as everything had been eating the serious business of voting for a winner began.

When the votes were counted our Junior Software Developer Debbie was overwhelmingly chosen as Star Baker for the day. She produced a selection of stunningly decorated and delicious cupcakes as well as ginormous chocolate fudge cake! Our Document Capture team were judged awarded the Best Department Bake for the effort the whole team when through to produce a stunning array of different goodies. Honourable mentions must also be given to Emma–Louise and Aideen’s children who put in a huge effort to produce a selection of beautiful looking and great tasting cakes, all of which can be viewed in the gallery below.

All the baking and eating undertaken by the team was done to raise funds for a very worthy cause, the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children. A local charity, it provides practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people aged 0–24 affected by cancer and their families. With 3 young people a week diagnosed with cancer in Northern Ireland the charity helps families to cope with the impact a diagnosis brings and helps to support them both during and after treatment. The whole team put in a fantastic effort for such a worthy cause and were able to raise an outstanding £300 on the day!

A huge congratulations and well done must be given to all the bakers who participated and for their amazing efforts to produce some tremenous and most importantly delicious bakes, as well as a thank you to all those who gave so generously to the charity. Finally, a big well done must be given to Nicola for all her hard work in organising the event and for ensuring that everything ran so smoothly on the day.
