Mallon Technology Staff go to ‘Hell & Back’ for Charity

Back in June, 3 of our colleagues, Gerard Rudden, Jennifer O’Conner and Tracey Connolly, went to ‘ Hell & Back‘ in an effort to raise money for a charity close to their hearts, Lily’s Dog Rescue.

The trio pushed their bodies to the limit to take on the Hell & Back obstacle course run, known as Ireland’s toughest mental & physical endurance challenge. Taking place in the grounds of Killruddery Estate, Co Wicklow, competitors had to complete a 8km course crossing rivers, climbing hill, crawling through bogs and tackling some of the terrifying man made obstacles such as sniper alley, shock of horrors, blackout and Satan’s pit.

Completing the course was no easy task but it was a challenge The Goonies (team name) were up for. Leaving no body behind, the Goonies started as a team and finished as a team, pulling, pushing and encouraging each other over the 8km course. Completing Hell & Back was a fantastic achievement, which was made even more impressive as it later turned out that Jennifer had broken her arm only 1km in to the course! A huge well done to the whole team for completing the course and enduring the pain in the name of charity, especially Jennifer who we wish a speedy recovery from her broken arm.

The team put themselves through the ordeal of Hell & Back to raise money for Lily’s Dog Rescue, a small home–based animal rescue and re–homing charity. Working out of Annagherin, Co cavan, the charity specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and re–homing of dogs, cats and horses. The ordeal was made worthwhile when afterwards, the trio realised they had raised a fantastic €500 for their charity! In recognition of their fantastic efforts, Mallon Technology has generously matched the amount raised by the trio to make the total a brilliant €1000 raised for the charity.

A huge thank you must be given to all those who supported Gerard, Jennifer and Tracey and who generously donated much needed funds for their charity. Check out the gallery below for some fantastic shots of the team in action!
