Mallon Technology Staff Help Inspire Future Generation of Coders

Our colleagues Aideen and Debbie recently attended the Bring IT On National ICT Day, to help inspire the next generation of coders and software developers in Northern Ireland.

Held at the Titanic Museum, Belfast, the event brought Year 11–14 students together from across Northern Ireland who are interested in a career in IT. Students who attended the event got the chance to engage directly with employees from IT companies, participate in an interactive programming workshop and gain insights in key employability skills.

Located in the employer zone at the event, Aideen and Debbie talked to a host of interested students about their experiences in the IT industry as well as demonstrating some of the projects they have worked whilst with Mallon Technology. Topics discussed with the students ranged from subjects to studies at University, the importance of having a broad understanding of programming languages, databases and hardware, the experiences and benefits of working for small and large companies as well as the importance of self learning.

Aideen and Debbie found that all the students were engaged, knowledgeable and keen to develop their skills further for a career in IT. The future looks bright for coding in Northern Ireland and you never know we may see some of those from the event working at Mallon Technology in the coming years!
