Data loggers are used to monitor trends in water levels in rivers throughout Ireland. The data retrieved varies on a weekly basis and these results are used for the creation of future plans for flood defences for Irish rivers. Currently the data is analysed using paper based charts. Mallon Technology are now converting the charts to an electronic repository, which can then be analysed at the touch of a button through a hydrometric application known as Kisters. The project will result in significant savings for the EPA in respect of both time and resources.
