Charity Bake Sale

Colleagues from Mallon Technology’s Cookstown office today hosted a Bake Sale in aid of Simon Community on World Homeless Day.

The sale saw all departments within the office come together to bake and enjoy some delicious treats and unwind. It also provided our colleagues with an opportunity to raise much need funds for our partner charity, Simon Community, and to reflect on some of the issues that homeless people face daily.

World Homeless Day was founded to draw attention to homeless people’s needs locally and to provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness. This is a day that is especially relevant to Simon Community and helps to reinforce the fantastic work they undertake throughout Northern Ireland.

The team in Cookstown put in an amazing shift the night before to bake up a storm of items including; Brownies, Cookies, Cupcakes, Rice Krispie Squares, Fifteens and Chocolate cakes! Once opened the sale did not last long! Everything on offer went and proved that if there is one thing our Cookstown colleagues love then that is buns.

Despite being a charity bake sale, there was also a competitive edge to the baking with the now customary Star Baker trophy awarded following an office–wide vote! Following the count, Daniel was chosen as the winner for his delicious and exceptionally well–decorated cupcakes.

However, all the baking was undertaken to raise funds for an important cause. Simon Community is Northern Ireland’s leading homeless charity, helping over 300 people a year across 22 projects. They provide specialist support services that include; homelessness prevention, mental health, community safety and drug and alcohol programmes. Thanks to the whole team in Cookstown a fantastic amount of £161.50 for the Simon Community.
