Kilkenny County Fire and Rescue Service

Location: Kilkenny

Date: 2009 – 2009

In 2009, Mallon Technology were awarded the contract to scan and transcribe the data of 2,000 Fire Certification files, 500 licensing Files and 200+ Pre-Fire Planning, Dangerous Substances & Explosives files, dating from 1994 – 2008, for Kilkenny Fire and Rescue Service.

The files are scanned into our bespoke scanning application, which has been designed by our software development team and enables documents to be scanned in the specified format and accommodates the associated data capture of index information.

Upon completion of the scanning and QA of the files, the digital versions are signed into the data capture process where specific details are transcribed from the captured images into the Kilkenny Fire and Rescue Service software system, Mallon Technology’s ‘Diamond Fire’.  When the premises details have been transcribed, the location of the premises is located on a vector map using a street search and associated metadata is recorded for that premises.

Benefits
This complete solution for Kilkenny County Council vastly speeds up their administration processes with access to all documents relating to a particular building at the touch of a button.  The scanning of these files also frees up office space, provides access to different locations simultaneously and even has the capability for the documents to be accessed remotely at the scene of an emergency.
