In 2006 Mallon Technology were awarded the contract to create a digital planning register for Waterford City Council. We scanned and geo-referenced all of their existing A0 register maps allowing them to be viewed under or over OSI vector data. Each of the 13,000 points captured represented a planning application from Waterford’s original A0 hard copy register maps.
Benefits
Creating a digital copy of their planning application gave the council a backup of these important files, freed up office space and gave their staff the ability to generate reports and statistics to aid decision making.
