Coillte Teoranta is Ireland's leading forestry company which was established under the Forestry Act 1988 to manage state owned forests commercially. They own 438,000 hectares of forest land which are a vital national economic, social and environmental resource, which are managed in accordance with sustainable forest management principles. In 2000 Coillte retained the services of Mallon Technology on a major Forest Planning and Inventory System (FIPS) which Coillte were contracted to deliver to the Forest Service of the Department of Marine and Natural Resources.
Mallon Technology was involved in three principal areas of this project, the provision of the GIS software solution, the provision of system support, and also the provision of a number of training services.
