In 1998 The NIHE commissioned Mallon Technology to carry out a project for the conversion of NIHE land ownership details. This project involved the development of appropriate data capture tools and the subsequent migration of the captured data to an alternative GIS platform. Parcel boundaries derived from title clearance maps and land terrier maps were digitised, as well as associated attribute data. This project also involved the scanning of literary deed packages for the purpose of document management.
Benefits
Essential information was captured and stored on the system for quick and efficient retrieval. The Housing Executive’s GIS users were able to explore spatial trends in housing characteristics, waiting lists and housing stress.
